If political expert Jose Alejandrino’s crystal ball is correct, Senator Ping Lacson is next to fade.
Alejandrino’s bold prediction was reposted by netizen Jon T. Hermosisima recently on his FB wall.
Alejandrino wrote that he once admired Ping Lacson because he thought he was one of the smarter senators. He lauded Lacson when he fought congressional insertions of pork barrel. As a result, Alejandrino remarked Lacson was a principled senator like Miriam Santiago.
However, when ideas of grandeur entered Lacson’s head like the construction of new senate building and being president of the country, he started to open his mouth, to grandstand without regard for the repercussions of his statements.
Alejandrino said Lacson forgot the old adage that speech is silver but silence is golden.
This is so true in politics. In politics, Alejandrino wrote that politicians need to carefully choose their words on national issues lest they complicate that solve them. In other, words, politicians must rise above their personal selves.
Otherwise, they end up committing political hará-kiri when the end up losing their sense of responsibility and mental balance.
Alejandrino concluded that by revealing himself as a tradpol, Lacson will go down the way of the tradpols..
THE NEXT TO FADE? by Jose Alejandrino
I once admired Ping Lacson. I thought he was one of the smarter senators. I lauded him when he fought congressional insertions of pork barrel. I praised him for being one of the few who didn’t accept pork barrel. Here, I said to myself, was a principled senator, like Miriam Defensor Santiago.
But then ideas of grandeur entered his head like a new multi-billion Senate building and being president of the country. He started to open his mouth, to grandstand, without thinking out the consequences of what he said. He forgot the old adage that speech is silver but silence is golden. In politics, you weigh carefully your words on national issues lest they complicate than solve them. That is the true worth of a responsible senator and statesman. You rise above your personal self.
Alejandrino cited de Lima and Trillanes as an example. It can happen to Robredo soon just like what happened to the OtsoDiretsos.
When politicians lose their sense of responsibility and mental balance, they end up committing political hará-kiri. It happened to Leila de Lima. It happened to Antonio Trillanes. It will happen to Leni Robredo. They become voices crying in the wilderness. Our people are becoming wiser thanks to the social media. You can fool people some of the time but you can’t fool them all the time. The proof? Where are the LP’s Otso Diretso today? Twiddling their thumb.
The game isn’t over. Those who don’t know how to play the game end up losers. Duterte knows how to play the game. The biggest mistake you can make is to underestimate him. Never go up against a highly popular president. The more you do, the more you lose brownie points. The more you slander him, the more his popularity increases, the more your popularity decreases. The proof? Look at Trillanes. Look at Robredo. Look st the commentaries on social media. They are among the most despised people.
By revealing himself to be no more than a tradpol, Ping Lacson will go down the way of tradpols. So sad.
