Proof: No sacred cow in Duterte government; nephew of high government official busted on drug charges

A nephew of a high government official has been busted on drug charges in Davao City today, February 10, 2017.

The suspect John Paul Dureza, nephew of the presidential peace adviser, together with John Anthony Huilar was nabbed in a drug buy-bust inside Dureza’s home in Catalunan Pequenio.

“Recovered from the suspects were nearly 15 grams of shabu with a street value of 225,000 pesos, a .22 rifle and 177 pieces of ammunition,” ABS-CBN News reported.

According to PDEA Director 3 Adzhar Albani, Dureza has long been in the agency’s watch list for selling drugs to prominent families in Davao City.

Presidential on the Peace Process reacted on Facebook on the arrest of his nephew and wrote:

I slept early last night ( still on sick leave but feeling okay) only to wake up early to be informed that one of my nephews was arrested by PDEA for drugs. I am of course embarrassed as he is a close relative.

But I commend the authorities for enforcing and applying the law without fear or favor.

That’s the way this no-nonsense drive of President Duterte should proceed.

Netizens in social media commend Dureza for not lifting a finger despite his influence as a high ranking official in the Duterte government.
