According to ABS-CBN News article dated June 12, 2019, Rep. Carlos Isagani Zarate is among the pooooorest lawmakers in the House of Representatives.
As per ABS-CBN article, Zarate’s 2018 SALN is P1,710,048.25 and placed 9th among the so-called poorest lawmakers.
However, if we believe the claim of radio host Mark Lopez in his FB post , Zarate’s son has been, to borrow Lopez’s words, traipsing all over Europe, enjoying the hedonistic lifestyle in western democracies which the leftist movement of his father so abhor and detest.
If your SALN says you have P1.7M, one wonders where his son get the money to pay for the European trip, which even middle class Filipino family could hardly afford, if at all.
Remember the photo below of Zarate’s son in Italy?
And the latest photo showed Zarate’s son in Poland enjoying the snowy weather there.
The greatest irony is that, while the young people who joined the NPA after they were lured by Zarate’s friends from various leftist groups lived a spartan and uncomfortable lives in the mountains, Zarate’s son live a comfortable life enjoying , thanks in large part to the work of his father who has availed of taxpayer funds in promoting the leftist agenda.

A TALE OF TWO HOODS
Image on the left side is an ex-NPA rebel known as “Allem.” She was recruited by the leftist org League of Filipino Students or LFS when she was just a 16 year old student at Polytechnic University of the Philippines PUP.
From being an active participant in rallies and mass movements, she was then sent to the boondocks to train as a guerrilla and eventually, an NPA.
She said that her full indoctrination includes the ultimate objective of bringing down the government even as they try to make themselves appear as simply “activists.”
She is now outfitted in a hood and masked because her life is in grave danger.
On the right side of the photo is Xandro Ysagani Zarate, the only son of Bayan Muna party list representative Carlos Zarate.
Xandro is currently traipsing all over Europe, enjoying the hedonistic lifestyle in western democracies which the leftist movement of his father so abhor and detest.
And he is there courtesy of the fruits of the labor his father gained out of being a representative for the marginalized sectors of our society.
He can afford to be this entitled, thanks in large part to the work of his father who has availed of taxpayer funds in promoting the leftist agenda which lured the likes, and drastically changed the life, of “Allem.”
Look at him and his smile in that snow-covered signature hoodie jacket and beanie.
In a way, it was the sacrifice, vulnerability, and idealism of Allem which enabled Xandro to be sheltered and live lavishly.
One is enduring a life severely altered and ruined by an ideological deception.
The other enjoying an extravagant life powered by the same machination.
And this my dear Filipinos, is the tale of two hoods.
