SolCom Chief Gen. Antonio Parlade defends Liza Soberano from red-tagging, says actress not NPA yet

For guesting in a Gabriela Youth-sponsored webinar, Kapamilya actress Liza Soberano has been red-tagged on social media by her critics.

For context, you may watch the video circulating online, courtesy of Philippine Star, shows Liza Soberano talking about the importance of taking a stand, especially against violence against women and children to see for yourself if the red-tagging of the Kapamilya actress is justified. [Link here]

Moving forward, the red-tagging of Soberado meant more trouble for the Kapamilya actress. Some critics called for the boycott of her TV shows, movies and even product endorsements.

Good news for Kapamilya actress Liza Soberano! Help arrives from an unexpected places. Or in this case, from an unexpected source.

I am not kidding. Soberano’s white in shining armor was none other than Lt. Gen. Antonio Parlade Jr., Commander of AFP Southern Luzon Command/NTF ELCAC.

In a Facebook post via the FB page of “Southern Luzon Command, AFP”, Parlade appealed to netizens to stop red-tagging the Kapamilya actress.

Parlade defended Soberano, saying she was merely exercising her rights, which is advocating women’s rights, and has to be protected.

Parlade asked netizens if Soberano is an NPA? The General answered not yet. Hence, she needs help by educating her and other celebrity targets of an underground leftist group under Gabriela.

“Let us not red-tag Liza Soberano. It’s not fair to her. She is merely supporting advocacy for women’s rights. She has to be protected in the exercise of her rights. Is she an NPA? No, of course not. Not yet. So let’s help educate her and the other celebrity targets of Malayang Kilusan ng Bagong Kababaihan (MAKIBAKA), the Underground Mass Organization hiding under Gabriela.

Gen. Parlade grabbed the opportunity to castigate the GABRIELA party-list representative for keeping their recruits about their hidden violent agenda in the dark.

“So, Rep. Arlene Brosas and Gabriela, shame on you if you haven’t informed your recruits about your hidden violent agenda.

The good General then turned his attention to Liza Soberano, telling her it’s not too late to abandon Gabriela and company. Otherwise, she will suffer the fate of former Gabriela recruit Anne Lapira.

“Liza Soberano, there’ s still a chance to abdicate that group. If you don’t, you will suffer the same fate as Josephine Anne Lapira @ELLA, former Deputy Secretary General of Gabriela Youth of UP, Manila and defender of women’s rights, even against sexual predators amongst her comrades in the NPA unit she joined which is clearly stated in her handwritten letter addressed to a certain @EMIL. It’s a pity she learned about nonsense things like nabbing a firearm, NPA machismo and sexual exploitation while already inside the underground. It was too late, she is dead.

Parlade coaxed netizens to share his post and use the ff. hashtags- #SaveLizafromCPPexploitation. #CondemnGabrielaExploitationOfWomen

Gen. Parlade ended the FB post by reminding Liza and Catriona like a father, an uncle or older brother would to their daughter, niece or sister not to follow the path of someone named Ella Colmenares, which Neri Colmenares and Angel Locsin has kept under wraps.

“The choice is yours Liza. And so with you Catriona. Don’t follow the path Ka Ella Colmenares (Locsin) took in the underground and NPA Quezon. I am sure Angel Locsin and Neri Colmenares will not tell you this.
