If you think the local showbiz industry will rally behind Senator Jinggoy Estrada for championing their cause by wanting to ban Korean dramas on local television, you’re wrong!
Veteran film director and actor Manuel Castaneda is not excited like many of his colleagues in the local showbiz to Senator Jinggoy Estrada’s proposal to ban Korean content on local television.
Direk Manny confessed that like many Filipinos, he watches kdramas and immensely enjoys them.
Direk Manny reasoned that he likes kdramas because they are well-produced, well-scripted and the actors are good not to mention good looking.
Direk Manny was humble enough to admit that he himself have a lot to learn from their South Korean counterparts.
To ban them completely because they are better than us is utterly stupid. Only idiots will make such suggestion, Direk Manny said in an emphatic tone.
He advised Senator Jinggoy not to feel insecure. Instead, they (local showbiz) must rise up to the challenge to improve their craft and upgrade the entertainment industry as a whole. This should be their goal.

I watch Kdramas and enjoy them immensely. They are often times well-produced and well-scripted. Not to mention that the actors perform very well, (aside from being very good looking). I have to admit that I too have a lot to learn from the Koreans. To ban them simply because they do a much better job than us is utterly stupid. Only idiots will make such a suggestion. Wag maging insecure Sen. Jinggoy. Instead, we must accept the challenge to improve our craft and upgrade entertainment industry as a whole. That should be our objective.
