Another incident involving a motorized boat highlights the need for a highly professional & better equipped Coast Guard in a country like ours.
The latest sea tragedy that resulted in a lone death of a 16-year-old passenger happened yesterday at 5:30 PM in Butuan, Agusan del Norte.
According to the netizens, the boat was bound for Magallanes Agusan del Norte.
The motorized boat capsized near the shoreline and the cause of the capsizing was overloading.
The netizens who did watch the video reacted in anger as the passengers of the capsized boat struggled to stay afloat while no rescue boats from the Coast Guard to help the passengers right away.
Towards the middle of the video, two passenger boats came into the picture to rescue some of the passengers.
In the background, the atmosphere can be described as chaotic while a few brave bystanders swam towards the passengers to provide much-needed reprieve for the luckless passengers who cannot swim.
The less than three-minute video was uploaded by an individual identified as Rhomar John Rosalejos from the same city where the sea tragedy happened.
The video has been viewed more than 50,000 times and shared more than 2400 times, twelve hours after the video was published.
As of this writing, no new update regarding the identity of the casualty and the name of the passenger boat involved in the accident.
The only silver lining in the midst of this latest sea tragedy is that a new President will be leading the country in the next six years and hopefully, he can do something about the incompetence of the Coast Guard in this part of the country.
