After watching Duterte getting pummeled in local and international media, Filipinos found an ally in the person of BBC’s Stephen Sachur for a change.
In the interview, Sackur exposed Trillanes as an ignorant and stupid fool by destroying every accusations he hurled against Duterte to the delight of the supporters of the President.
A British guy named Malcolm Conlan, whose heart beats for the Filipinos, couldn’t help but congratulate Mr. Sackur for approaching the Trillanes interview with an unbiased attitude.
Apparently ecstatic with the outcome of the interview, Conlan wrote an open letter addressed to the hard-hitting BBC talk show host expressing his gratitude and the Filipinos he dearly loved for the excellent interview.
Read the post below.
An Open Letter of Feedback sent to the BBC earlier today.
Dear Sir/Madam
I am writing to you to personally congratulate Stephen Sackur on the excellent episode of Hard Talk this week, where the special guest was Philippine Senator Antonio Trillanes.
It was very clear from the start of the interview that Stephen had gone to a great deal of effort to understand the real issues many Filipinos are greatly concerned over, especially the relentless campaign by Senator Trillanes to pursue in my personal view, a false, misguided and erroneous legal campaign against President Rodrigo Roa Duterte and his War On Drugs at the ICC.
I am particularly grateful to Stephen for his understanding of the popularity of the President and his team.
It is very clear that Stephen although being unbiased in his show, was able to challenge senator Trillianes over his constant negative criticism of President Duterte. Stephen has yet again demonstrated as he did in his previous episode from the Philippines, that he understands the real issues faced by Filipinos back home.
I can say without doubt that many Filipinos back home in the Philippines and indeed overseas filipino workers (OFW’s) including some of my own family are very appreciative of the work by the BBC and Stephen Sackur in showcasing the Philippines in a more positive light, particularly at a time when some of the worlds media seek to potray President Rodrigo Duterte in a negative light over his War on Drugs, Crime and Corruption, all of which are in keeping with his desire to improve life in the Philippines for the Filipino people.
Once again, please pass on my grateful thanks to Stephen from my family and I am sure at least 16 million Filipinos worldwide.
Best regards

Your thoughts?
And my thanks to you sir Malcolm for echoing the voice of not only 16M Filipinos. Pres Duterte may not be an ideal presidnet as far as speeches portray him but that is how he is. Needless to say the apparent relentless support he is getting stem from the “:silent majority” some of whom have chosen to fight out in the open via social media also for a President we all havebeen waiting for. Why do we support him despite some grave mistakes by “some abusive cops”? Because it is only now that we see action from a president. Plus he takes a PROACTIVE role in delivering what he has promised. The thing is how can a presidnet do what he desires for his country if for every action he does come the wolves whose intention is to malign him because of the delkusion that only they can “save” the Philippines. I personally would like to thank the previous administration , if there was any, because it was their unactions and uncaring behavior towards the ordinary citizen’s plight that awakened a lot of Filipinos. Gone are the days when you can”sweet talk” via campaigns becaue now Filipinos want action. And with Duterte we not only read it we see the results, we FEEL the changes. Thanks to the NO ACCOMPLISHMENT government by the 2nd aquino. Personally I have felt the change – I am a senior citizen and one time I wento to a government office I sawq, I felt the difference in how these public servants act and do their jobs. This time they show respect, they make you feel that you are equally as important as the so called rich taxpayers. Hmmmp so to my simple mind it boils down to one thing – IT DEPENDS on THE LEADERSHIP and that is shown how big an influence Pres. Duterte is in making the change or changes. Changes that the opposition are afraid of BUT too late for them because we have founbd the “carrier of HOPE and change” in the person of Pres. Duterte.
Again thanks sir Malcolm for thanking Mr. Stephen on behalf od the Filipinos because we feel grTEFUL AT HOW HE “UNSKINNED” sENATOR cOUPE pAL.
