Late this evening, Team Manager Epok Quimpo of the Ateneo Blue Eagles posted an update on Facebook regarding the disciplinary actions meted on the controversial Ateneo player John Apacible.
It can be recalled that earlier tonight, several media outlets and big blog sites identified the identity of the drunk motorist as John Apacible of the Ateneo Blue Eagles.
The Ateneo sophomore player was the drunk motorist on the viral video uploaded on the popular Facebook Page Top Gear Philippines.
The Ateneo player can be heard cursing expletives to the guy taking the video and even challenging him to a fistfight but cooler heads prevailed and no fistfight occurred.
His identity was revealed by players that happened to watch the video on the Facebook Page of Top Gear Philippines. He was recognized by fellow players that played pick-up games with the Ateneo player.
In a recent article posted by Spin.ph, they carried out its own investigation following the lead from its sister site Top Gear Ph and got the same answer from reliable sources that indeed the individual in the video is none other than Ateneo’s sophomore player John Apacible.
Earlier today, the Ateneo de Manila University confirmed that indeed John Apacible was the drunk young man in the video and posted this:
It has come to our attention that John Apacible, behaved in an unacceptable manner during an early Sunday morning encounter. John deeply regrets his reprehensible behavior and sincerely apologizes to everyone involved.
Rest assured that the Ateneo Blue Eagles Management as well the Loyola schools will deal this regrettable incident appropriately and swiftly.
As of this writing, the Ateneo player has not made any statement yet if he is planning to talk to the media to speak about the incident.
Meanwhile, Ateneo team manager Epok Quimpo said that the player will face the following sanctions:
1) He will face game suspensions.
2) He will not be allowed to practice.
