Watch: Alleged secret meeting between VP Robredo and Comelec Chairman Bautista video

A video of the alleged secret meeting between VP Robredo and Comelec Chairman Bautista is catching fire in the social media.

In light of the electoral protest filed by losing vice-presidential candidate, the Supreme Court ordered respondent Leni Robredo to comment on the case. The Supreme Court order was released on July 12, 2016.

“The secret meeting between VP Leni and Comelec Chairman Andres Bautista occurred barely 8 hours after the Supreme Court made the order, Leni Robredo held a secret meeting with fellow respondent and Comelec chairman Andres Bautista at the 10th floor of the Urdaneta Apartments in Makati. The meeting was held at the unit of socialite Baby Cruz,” the video claimed.

The “secret meeting” between the 2 personalities lasted about 4 minutes.

“As the electoral case is still pending in the Presidential Electoral Tribunal (PET), the Filipino people would like to know: Is it legal for the Comelec chairman to meet and favor the (alleged) fraudulent party?” it asked. “If both parties have nothing to hide, why meet in secret?”

Meanwhile, VP Robredo’s harshest critic, Dr. Antonio Contreras sees nothing wrong with the meeting.

The issue here is not that COMELEC Chair Bautista and Mrs. Robredo met. They have a right to do so since they are both respondents in an electoral protest.

The issue is that COMELEC has been impleaded in an electoral protest, not in its capacity as a quasi-judicial body in a certiorari petition before the Court, but as a party to the alleged electoral fraud.

The video was posted by the Dayaang Matuwid Facebook page and has garnered more than 16,000 shares and was viewed over 400,000 times in just 12 hours.
